Painting Grill Surrounds?

I'm thinking about taking out the headlight grill surrounds and painting them to freshen them up a it. What is preferred, flat black or semi gloss? The car is Alpine White, if that even matters. Also what brand paint worked/works the best.

There was a thread like this a couple days ago, and possibly a write-up in the DIY sticky if it helps. I used Krylon for plastics, think it was a semi-gloss. Worked well/has held up.
