I know they give you a great stance, but do they give you good handling? how is the ride? body roll?

stiffer springs and with the car lower to the ground it'll yield less bodyroll and better handling ride will be harsher for sure

Corners pretty flat for a 3700lb car (see sig).. Not perfect, but for the price you can't beat them.

Jcbe34, how much did you shorten the strut tubes / how much adjustment do you have?

I am basically at the bottom, I could do down another 1/4" but it would be sketchy. Oh and mine are shortened 1.5"

So... question for you folks.
Will these type of kits work for Touring Models - at least ones without the SLS ?
What is the ideal Spring Rate for the E34 or Touring? Anyone know?
Thanks!

spring rates are something that is totally up to you it really depends on what you can live with...that said..nex dont come with an option for different spring rates
theyre all 550# which isnt terrible in my opinion... a track car would have something like 700 and eibachs or some standard spring is around 450ish or 400. it all depends on what youre using the car for and what the roads around you are like and what you feel you can tolerate. personally 550 is fine with me
im not sure if the nex kit will work for tourings. call max speed performance theyll answer that question theyre really helpful and they know their stuff..
why do you want a coilover kit tho? is it just because its available or do you want to go really low or you plan on tracking the car?
a conventional spring/shock set up may work best for you..itll drop the car and still maintain a decent ride quality

Thanks Sam Son .... Yep, I was considering because of availability. Also, they tend to offer an almost infinite range of adjustability for the car's rake and such. I am also weighing them against Koni's - I was about to go back to the guy I originally got a Koni set from. The White car I wrecked had Koni springs and shocks on it and I liked both the ride and the height.
As far as spring rates go, I was wondering if the weight of the car had to be taken into consideration? Especially the touring as it weighs more on the rear.
Thanks!

I'm sure that the weight of the touring will affect the ride, but you should be able to score a different set of springs from someone. You might need a stiffer spring so as not to allow too much bounce for the rear. I know a lot of guys with custom stereos and such get stronger springs in the rear of their cars to compensate for the extra weight.

Does anyone know H&R spring rates? I would've went with NEX also but i didnt know about it back then:(The H&R's I have are progressively wound, so there's not really a "rate" associated with them. Squishy for the first part of compression, then less squishy.
stiffer springs and with the car lower to the ground it'll yield less bodyroll and better handling ride will be harsher for sure Lower = MORE body roll for a given spring rate on any MacPherson strut car that wasn't botched by the factory. If you lower a car much, body roll has to be dialed out with super stiff springs.

the infinite range of adjustability is what drew me to them...that and the fact that theyre stiffer...id honestly suggest getting a conventional set up for a touring..i still think you should have a chat with the guys over at max speed they should be able to help out

those are some pretty high spring rates. The e39 m5 guys using the ground control 'occasional track day' springs are doing 430/380, and they're suggesting 430/300 for my e34 kit. i'd think a 550 spring front and rear would create a ton of oversteer, and a really harsh ride.

Redfive has like 550 on his GC setup, and wants to go higher.
