Has anyone successfully fixed the rear deck rattle that plagues our 3 series cars? I was never able to get rid of it on my 2007 335i coupe despite several dealership visits. My 2009 335i coupe has the same rattle. I am almost positive it is coming from the plastic rear deck grill and the rear glass. The rattle goes away when it is warm (expansion) and is diminished when someone sits in the back seat. Part of the problem is that dealerships get very little warranty money for rattle fixes which can often take a long time to diagnose and fix. Thanks.

what rattle :dunno, I hear some from time to time but that is not one of them. Are the head rests all the way down?

I have a slight rattle in my '09 335i cabrio that sounds like it's coming from the right rear deck area as well. Not really sure what it is, but I think I'm going to just live with it since it's very slight. Stereo volume and/or window(s) down or A/C fan on completely drowns it out. Not really worth a trip and leaving it with the dealership to try and figure it out (unless it gets any worse).

I have a visible rattle when I am going 100mph with the windows down, but I don't hear anything!

That's what the stereo is for. :)

Now that I think about it, every German vehicle I've ever owned has had some rattle or noise. Maybe it's just inherent in German cars...

My car experiences the rattle/creaking noise from the rear part of the cabin (by rear "deck" I assume you mean cabin?) only during the winter, primarily on the coldest of days. Also, it is typically only evident on really bumpy uneven roads. It is a bit annoying, but as someone said above, it is not worth taking in to BMW to get fixed unless the problem gets worse.

I do hear some slight rattle from the front when I start the car, but my music seems to drown it out.

Also, when my windows are down, it appears there is movement in the door panel when the door closes, but less when the window is up....

Thoughts?

this one is normal.

That is unfortunate......I like hearing that solid "thunk" when you close the doors.....

I hear a buzz but it's from that roll up cover in between the rear seats.

make sure the windows are all the way up then and you should have no issue ;).
