I just purchased a 1994 525i w/ 98k on it. I was surfing the net for what I should do first... I found this forum and WOW... I am even more confused now. My first question? What is with the E34 and not the Model number? :embarrasm

OP- BMW has three basic levels of sedan, 3 5 and 7 series. Around every 8 years they get a redesign. The 5series before ours was the E28. from ~1988-1996 the 5 series was the E34. Within that generation it could have had the 2.5l motor (like yours) and been a 525, had a 3,3.5,or 4 liter motor and been a 530,535,540. Its easiest in a forum that discusses all of them to refer to it by generation. While we have different motors, the interior and body design, as well as all the little problems are the same for my E34 540i and your E34 525i
