Door Ajar Warning?

Kind of a silly question but shouldn't there be a warning light on the dash of my 2009 328 to show that a door or the trunk is not closed? The symbol is listed in the owner's manual but I haven't seen anything light up on my dash. It's not a big deal but I found it handy on my 12 year old Saab 900. Thanks.

It will only show up after you start driving for a bit, I am not sure if it is based on speed (say above 5mph) or distance.

mine comes on as soon as the car is started if a door is ajar

Not sure if they changed it in the 09 model year, but the 06-08s don't say anything till you're moving at a couple miles per hour. Then the symbol pops up on the screen. I prefer the E46 style, that lights up as long as the key is in the ignition so if someone doesn't close their door all the way, I know about it before I start driving, and don't have to then stop so Junior can close his door.
