Here is some structural/aero parts I finished at work for a prototype. Its wet layup and didnt get any touch ups afterward but its extremely functional and is just a little practice for whats to come for the M5 for charge piping, filter housing, heat shields, shrouds, etc. The only difference will be that the parts for the M5 will be prepreg with vacuum bagging for an even more flawless outcome and more strength.

Is this going to be for a lip of some sorts?

No that actual part is a 1/4 of a prototype "bird tail" (Airborne towed EM array) that I built at work.

If you had the resources to make a few lips i'm sure you could make a few extra bucks on here. Something in the ACS direction....or even Reiger.

Your build is so much more exciting than mine. :(

I should have bought an m5 first.

Noice !

I'm considering the Evolve Carbon unit in the UK.

Very similar to the old Racing Dynamics Box and the Gruppe M units the guys w/ e46's run.

Its pricey. 925 USD shipped to my door. Dyno graph shows 5-8 hp at the flywheel. Not much but apparently the sound is pure evil. There's a thread w/ pics of it installed on the M5 board.

Sharkbite, as far as air intakes go for the stock engine Im going to toy with building one if the numbers I get from my restriction and heat measurements of the stock M5 unit are unacceptable or can be improved without too much modification (no losing headlights). I have a few filters Im looking at using (all OEM BMW from different models due to ease of replacement) that offer less restriction than the e34 M5 unit but before I commit resources to changing the stock setup I am going to collect some hard data showing how big of a restriction the air intake components are (filter, housing itself, MAF, rubber boot to plenum.) along with where there is a good positive pressure point(s) on the front of the vehicle to collect air from. This way there is no doubt of any improvements to the stock M5 setup. Unfortunately all this work on a new intake assembly for the NA setup on the driver side will have to be sold off
when I get further into my turbo setup and start relocating things.

Bin, what would you want ALPINA design wise?

One thing I will be making to see how it turns out later this month is a set of interior trim, but Im not sure If I want CF over my dark wood trim, well see. Currently Im working on a thrust plate similar to the E46 and E90 M3s and the same idea as what the E36 x-brace does to help stiffen the front of the M5.
