I've now purchased two sets and I'm no longer looking. Thank you everyone for your emails....
I would like to buy a set of four rims from the optional OEM sport package rims for the e39. The following is a picture of the style 81 rims.
I have a 2001 BMW 525IT.
Thank you.

I'd swear I've seen a set on eBay recently. I'd also check the BMW CCA Classifieds...

e24mpwr - Thank you. I had also checked Bimmerfest, but had not heard of BMW CCA. I will check the CCA. e-bay is another good idea. I had noticed one for sale on e-bay but had wanted a set. It also looks like ebay has chrome. I will look a bit more closely for any OEM.

CRA - Those are nice wheels. Though I want 17s that ride a bit easier as I have smaller kids. Thank you for the thought.

If you play with the site they have all different size wheels available. Hit BMW on left, Model, Year and you should get several wheel size options. Also, different years and model's wheels may fit your vehicle.

what are your budget and expectations in terms of condition? I am also looking for a set of high quality low weight 17x8.5 or 17x9s and I just can't seem to find a set under 1000 (although there's plenty around 1400 but that's what I can get for a brand new real set of ACS rims).

mrfinagle - I hope you find what you are after. As you asked, here are my thoughts. I have seen postings on craigslist or even older bimmerforum for other 17 wheels sytles. I did also see a number of very nice brand new looking wheels at 'finishline' (suggested by CRA). So you can find a bunch of great wheels under $1k at that site. If you look in a reasonable distance from NYC metro (looks like you are in my area) I have seen used sets of 17's from $300 to $1,000 on CL. I have also seen e39 wheels on ebay, but not as many sets.
I will continue to look for a set of style 81 as that is what I want. I have seen three peole selling the wheels I wanted for a very fair and reasonable price in CA and OR. But I have not found anyone willing to ship to CT. I want to thank CRA for suggestion on finish line, as they do have the exact wheels I wanted. Yet, they are in perfect and price reflects that. I got my bmw with higher miles and my wheels do not need to be perfect. For now, I will wait and see if I can get a set that does show some use and thus is a bit cheaper. If not, I may do as CRA suggested - thank you again for that!

I'm now looking for a set for winter use. This next set can have a bit more use or road rash.
If you have a set of rims, email pictures to david525it@gmail.com

If anyone out there is looking to sell a set of these Style 81 rims...preferably in very good condition, as these will be my primary/summer rims...I'd be interested. Please send me pictures @ jleonarduc@optimum.net.
