Hello everyone! Last week I placed an order for a new 335i sedan:

Jet Black Ext / Black Leather Int.
Steptronic Transmission
Sport Pkg (w/paddles)
Premium Pkg
Cold Weather Pkg
iDrive Nav System
Logic7 Sound System
iPod Adapter
Comfort/Keyless Entry
Anti-Theft Alarm
Park Distance Control
Rear Manual Window Shades & Power Rear Shade
Satellite Radio

MSRP was 54,700 with invoice at 50,860. I called several dealers in LA (and CarsDirect) to end up with the best price I could: 51,000 + floor mats.

$140 over invoice seemed like a good deal, but I'd like to hear opinons from BMW owners/drivers more experienced than I am. (This was my first new car purchase.)

Also, what should my expectations be with regard to delivery? Most folks seem to have received their car in about 6-7 weeks, but my dealer said mid-July. Is it likely to be somewhere in between?

(If anyone has a 2009 335 Sedan with the sport package, please drop me a line and let me know how you like it!!)

Thanks,
Dev

I'm in the process of researching a 335xi, manual, premium, cold package, and anti-theft. I would have to order this very specific one as well, best I can do thus far is $1500 over invoice via Costco.

Better than the $3000 over invoice from another salesperson at the very same dealership. :D

So it would appear you have a very good deal.

Very nice! What color? I never see the '09 sedans, even in Los Angeles, where it seems there's a 3-series everywhere you look.

Candidly, I'm inexperienced and, given the economy, I didn't know if people were getting less than invoice or some other "hidden" discount. I only did a round-robin of quick phone calls and emails between 7 or 8 dealers in SoCal, asking each one if they could beat the price quoted by the other.

I started with a CarsDirect quote, which was around $1500 over invoice. Some would beat it, some wouldn't. Eventually, they started adding trivial items like wheel locks and floor mats because they wouldn't go any lower.

What was the delivery estimate for your 335?

I haven't placed the order, yet.... :D Still trying to shop around for the best price. Some of the dealers here are just not willing to negotiate and haggle that much; I sense a mild aroma of snobbishness and ego. I guess business is good here.

But the light silver blue metallic is my front runner thus far. Looks plain awesome :)

Maybe this will seem like a dumb question but how do you know the invoice price? The MSRP price is obvious but do you have to ask the dealer for the invoice price or am I missing something?

Edmunds.com, or costco's auto program.

Not sure how to find that info in Canada. It is not the same as the US.
