My 1997 328is is all stock except for the powerflex polyurethane control arm bushings I had installed a while ago, and boy what a mistake. They make terrible noises while driving, going over bumps, or just compressing the suspension. The ride quality is fine but the noises! It sounds like the suspension has aged 5 years over night, I'll probably switch to stock bushings but first does anyone know of a good lubricant I could use on these? I heard silicone is not bad, I'd rather just fix these than go through the expense of getting new bushings again

Spray the hell out of them with a spray-type white lithium grease.. then turn the wheel back and forth a couple of times, and take her for a drive..... Spray liberally.

Supposedly the fix is marine grease, which sticks well and repels the water that will displace lighter greases. Remove, grease very liberally, and reinstall. I just bought a tube (at Advance Auto, but marine stores probably sell a higher grade synthetic) and used it when I installed my poly diff bushings. I plan to remove and reinstall my poly RTAB and subframe bushings as well when I do the rear ball joints soon. After a year, something started squeaking back there in very cold weather.

Lithium grease will dry up quick. I used axle grease on the few poly parts I have with no squeaks, yet.

My old standby grease is Lucas Red and Tacky. It's available everywhere, very waterproof, and lasts for a long time on poly.
