Drove IRL a couple weeks ago. Car was finally running really well. Running 16psi and 275-35-18's Dunlop Star Spec Z1's.
SO MUCH FUN! No joke, the car is INSANE!
SPA Turbo setup, TRM Tuning, Dunlop Stickies, S-Max keeping it cool, and Southbend putting the power down!

You don't need a turbo to do that, silly.

You are correct. A turbo is not needed to drift, but to spin 275 Z1's you do! Lol:alright

Have not had time to do much searching, but here it one I found that a fan took. I am the first car.
Its a right hander into a 350 ft straight that is only 25 ft wide, then into another tight right hander to another 300 ft straight. It was awesome to be able to link the whole thing in 1 DRIFT!

It is a shame to waste tires. Thank god dunlop supplies an amazing tire for my smoking habits. lol
JFDMAS - Its a big fender pull. 18x10 +20's. Tires do rub the fender a little. But for me the tire wears before the sidewall. In the front I run 17x8.5 +13 with a 235-40-17. I also have E46 M3 control arms tho, they are 40mm wider then stock e36 M3 ones.
Thank you RJ! I see we make similar power, Do you daily your car?

Haha, that was pretty funny, and I agree, you do look like you know what you're doing. You must have had some good momentum going to get through that section slide-wayz ;)
And I see why you'd want Start Specs. I don't see that drift happening with all-seasons :)

any fender modification to fit the 275's?
My 255's fit on a stock suspension and unrolled fenders over the 9.5" CSL reps. With a fender roll you may be able to squeeze in 265's, but as ienjoydrifting said, you usually need fender mods to fit 275's.

My friend Rodney has 265 on 17" wheels....
But I think the key element here is the offset of the wheels..... I wonder what is the offset of all this wheels with wide tires; it's got to be under 40mm

In that case, please let us know as far as modifications go to fit such aggressive offset and large tires. What suspension and spring rates? Do you have full travel or are you rubbing?

What are you calling BS on? I have 275/35/18's on one of mine. It's lowered on H&R Springs and Bilsteins, the fenders are rolled. Wheels are ASA AR1's in 18x9 45 offset.

How about you just read the thread?
He already stated the fenders are heavily rolled/pulled and he has tire rub in the rear on the sidewall, but he burns the tires off before it matters.

From all the knowledge over at the track section it seems impossible to fit 275s without flaring so my bad for being a bit skeptical.
18x10 +20 and 18x10.5 +17 are just hard to get over when 18x9.5 +19 and 275s look like this on my car
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/raoke/Front285.jpg

I'm only a couple hours south of you, you're welcome to come look anytime. :) I also have 275/40/17 DR's that fit inside my wheel well on my turbo M3 (17x8.5 with 40 offset). You can see them at the end of this video (http://texasbimmers.com/media/tranny_explosion.wmv) (and this higher res video (http://texasbimmers.com/media/tranny_big.wmv) if you can't see them in the first one). I originally thought that it was my tranny that broke, but it was just the driveshaft that had twisted apart.
Edit: I also told you the same info when you asked last year about tires (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1075474). :confused

Yeah I know... it's just hard to believe in my own experience since I've struggled with this, especially with the OP's low et.
I'm running 8.5 ltws now which is around et40, but isn't 275 too wide for 8.5?
edit: just saw your video.. lol, it's almost as if you made it just for me.. ok ill stfu now :D

That is why.
I have seen these tires on ParadigmGuy's car and I have ridden in his car. You have too much gap on the inside and that is why the outside are sticking way the hell out there. You need the offset he has.

I rub pretty bad on my 255s in the rear. My problem is my spring rate in the rear, H&R sports are too soft, and let the car down quite a bit. If I have another person in the car doing a WOT pull in 2nd and 3rd will cause my tires to do a burnout on the body O_O

Like all forms of motorsport, it all comes down to grip.
More grip, more speed. More speed is always good. more grip also gives more control - and we all know what happens when you loose control.

04-23-2009, 10:58 PM
On a 10.5 the tires will stretch slightly. As stated, the tire does rub when I hit boost, a bump, or toss the car around hard.
Raoke, Those look like Khumo R compounds. Those are around 1inch wider then the 275 direzza's I run. Also you are on a 9.5? They are bubbling over, which will make the tire rub. My stretch makes the wheel stick out, but the stretch of the tire matches the concave of the fender. Ill get some pictures up when I mound up some new rubber this weekend. Also, I run 2 degrees of camber.
The car has an SPA 7000 series turbo.
