Well.. I've decided that drifting around a corner, shifting, and holding onto the Dr.P tucked into the corner where I don't have ASC is getting a little out of hand.

I realize that car's are for driving, and drinking is well, for getting wasted:devillook.. But sometimes you need a cupholder!

Anyone have pictures of what you've got?

Any suggesstions one what I should get?

I have Natural int. color.. and was thinking of the BavAuto dual or single that goes in the void of the Zach Morris Cell Phone area... but 90 bucks? Geesh...

Stuff the can in to the center console behind e brake, lol that what I do. And if it spills it all collects right there in the cubby. EDIT yeah where the cell phone would be

Ha yeah I frequent that spot too, but have my ipod ghetto mounted there for the meantime.

haha I have really considered getting a large drill bit and drilling a coke size hole in the shifter surround........however that would be bad.

edit heres a pretty cool diy http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt346/woodnthings8/1995%20E34/P1010454.jpg

There is the two-can holder that sits very unstable upon the shifter surround...

There is another cupholder that I have seen very limited times. It goes into the old cell phone spot, and looks like an armrest, but the top pops up and you have 2 cup holders. I would love to have it, however I've seen them on ebay and they always go for a good amount of money. I think I've seen them on a parts website as well though...

alittle super glue and that cup holder may actually hold a cup

I have the same one boogie has. Worked amazing on my e32 because the sides around the console were thicker, but the e34's are thinner, so I put some velcro on the inside. Works great..

I don't have them for that reason, they are junky, and are expensive.

tell the owner of www.ultimatecupholder.com (http://www.ultimatecupholder.com) to get off his A$$ and finish up the one for the E34. This is the only cup holder that would work in our cars.

or you can try this: http://autorepair.about.com/b/2007/03/07/finally-a-truly-universal-cup-holder.htm

I have the "can holder" pictured above. As its name would lead you to believe, it's pretty good at holding cans. I don't drink anything that comes in can form, so mine's only used for holding cigarettes and my cell phone. Turns out they're the perfect diameter for a Camel Wides box...

Ultimate Cup Holder.. read this:
Limited availability now for BMW E34 5 Series and E36 3 Series, Porsche 911 993.

Ha! thats probably the only place I would use duct tape in my car. Nice!

My brother in law CNC water-jet cuts cupholders Exactly like ultimatecupholders... I drew up the CAD drawings for him a few years ago.. guess he should get a site up!

The drawings I did were for his e39M5, but there's virtually no difference from make to make.

Why is the cup holder option RARE?!?!?! Did they think just b/c it was a 42grand car back in the day they weren't going to drink in it at all. Come on everyone needs something on a road trip. Did they design it so the classy Germans couldn't sip their tea and coffee whilst driving over 160kmh down the Autobahn b/c they were afraid it would spill onto their genuine leather seats!?!?!
Have you ever been to a Sonic Drive-In, ordered a Route 44 drink, and then after driving about 3 miles spill it out onto the floor b/c you're trying to hold it between your legs...?????

Well, that roots back to the german way of: drive spiritedly, and drink in the bar, not in your car.. But what happens when i foul up that whole way of life and crack a Pibb.. then all the sudden some 'tard in a Kia starts honking at me cause I'm only going the speed limit(in the right lane, mind you; this acctually happened and it was great..)?

You know that when they switch lanes to try to get around me, I pretend to let 'em. Then, uh oh! just kidding - mexican road block like you wouldn't believe and whoops! they missed they're turnoff.

I can't be bothered with a can, bottle, what-have-u at a time like that!:devillook

I use the ultimate cup holder E39 version - until they get the E34 version. Works well and will hold any size cup - easy to use just slide it into place. Doesn't tip over cause its resting on the floor and the top is under the edge of the center console. Pretty easy to use while driving just reach down beside your right knee. Can be a pain on some of the real large styrofoam cups - tends to bind on them but usually not a problem.

That seems to be the consensus.. when my bro in law has some more cut, I'll see if anyone here wants one in addition to me - they're literally identical to ultimate's.. he even has a design with some hourglass shaped nylon webbing that's pretty cool - now that i think about it, damn - i want one!

They are not reliable. I had my gf hold my gallon of soda from taco bell one time. Took a corner to fast (well, that's her story), and she spilt it all over my floor. Took forever to suck that all out with the shop vac. :rolleyes

No. They didn't want drivers to be focused on anything but driving. Especially on the Autobahn. Not over engineering by any means.

I'm saying that specific cup holder is rare (if you want to call a cup holder rare). Ive never seen one for sale or anything, just in the accessories book that came with my car along with the BMW polo :)

Different auto culture. Americans love to live in their cars.

Not me........I don't need to eat, drink and f*ck in my car....

Why? Because I can eat at a table, drink at a bar and f*ck in the dressing rooms at Walmart.:evil2

It works excellent if you use some goop or silicone to GLUE it to the console.
Otherwise it is a bloody hazard.

The reason there are no factory cupholders is simple. It was ILLEGAL to do anything other than Drive in germany at the time.
You could not eat, drink, apply make up, talk on the phone, read the newspaper, but apparently smoking was ok. ;) judging by the twin lighters and triple ashtrays.

i think E34 were smoker cars.. well y the ash trays in the rear and no cup holders in the front or rear? I stuff my beverage( juice, h2o, beer) between the passenger seatbelt lock and back support when riding solo... with occupants i put my beverage between the driver door and seat... works for me..

wouldn't upgrade on a cup holster.. just my .02

Mine does not have an ash tray or lighter in the back only the front. That panel houses the double lock LED and glass breakage sensor.
