What size tires, front and rear, should I get for '99 M3. I'm looking at Kumho Ecsta XS or Dunlop Direzza Stars. I currently have stock suspension but would like the wheels to fit if I lowered the car as well.

235's front and rear, those would fit for sure. You may be able to get away with 245's but I'll let someone else chime in on that.

What about aspect ratio, front and rear?

215/40/17 if you want no rubbing and no major fender work, 225/40 selection is nonexistant, 235/40/17 you're gonna have to do some serious rolling I think. I ran 235's on an ET43 on an 8.5 at stock m3 height and they fit without much room to spare, you're talking 3/4" or so further out and lowered.

What about 225/45?

235/40R17 is the stock tire size for an E36 M3. He shouldn't have any rubbing. Go with the 40 series.

I'm currently running 235/40/17 on Kosei K1 17x8.5 ET40, lowered on H&R Sports and I don't have any problems.

What's the Offset on the Style 5's? As long as it's something reasonable for the E36, you shouldn't have a problem with 235's or possibly even wider.

The offset is the problem. They are off E39 Sport package and I think they are ET20 or something close to that.

That IS a problem. You'll probably have to do some fender work regardless of what tire size you choose. I doubt they would fit with even a 225, and a 215 would probably be stretched a bit on an 8 inch wheel.
