so springs never go bad right? I am not planning to lower my e36, which
I haven't bought yet but it's a matter of few weeks.

springs do in fact break, particularly rears. It depends what you are looking to do. If you want the car scraping the ground, then change springs. If you want a competitve autox-track car, sport or race springs will be the way to go. If you are just driving to and from work and have nothing to complain about, save your money for the next oil change. :)

Just keep in mind maintenance rather then mods. If not maintained these cars will bite you!

Springs do wear out, depending on how, where, and when the car was driven and taken care of, your springs may be rusted or broken. It's true about the rear springs I have seen e30's with rear broken springs and a e36 as well.
