How difficult will it be to replace my lower ball joints? Are there any special tools required?

its tricky. i just sent my car to the garage this week for both ball joints, tie rod end and an alignment afterwards.

Do you mean the outer ball joints? The inner ones are not replaceable.
If you mean the outer ones, I'd suggest just replacing the control arms--they come with both ball joints pre-installed, and so all you need is a correctly sized pickle fork. Also, the cost differential isn't all that huge as I recall--I did mine last summer. BIG difference.
Hope that helps.
