Anyone have a suggestion for a spring compressor for the front end?
The POS Taiwanese one i bought wouldn't fit well and i couldn't get enough compression to remove the spring hat.

You can borrow one from Autozone and or take them to a auto shop and have them remove and replace yours.
Autozone charges only a deposit and returns it when you are done....

+1 Advance Auto or Autozone will let you borrow them for a deposit of like $50. Make sure you pay in cash, or it will take like 5 days for you to get the deposit back when you return the compressor.

I had trouble using the spring compressor when doing my struts. I got the one from Autozone because I didn't think I had one in the shop where I do all my work. The Autozone compressor couldn't compress the spring enough. I had to go foraging through the mountains of old stuff at the shop to find something else to use. It wasn't a spring compressor, but it would fit over the coil and tighten down- just enough to relieve the pressure.

its much easier to compress the spring if you have air tools

Yeah i didnt have air tools, and used the spring compressor from Autozone. It was about a 20 minute trip each way with the compressor. Though my forearms got a good workout...

I bought mine from harbor freight for like $15, worked just fine. An electric impact gun will also get the job done as well.
