HELP with grinding noise

Alright guys so I just recently adjusted the parking brake on my car (pain in the ass). I have always had this grinding noise come from the back wheels of my car.

The noise is kind of like a "shhhh...shhhh....shhhhh....shhhh" noise that increases with speed. It has become louder since the adjustment on the parking brake.

What other sources could it be? I have pushed the backing plate back on both rotors... could it be something caught between the rotor and the backing plate (rust)? Its driving me insane...sounds like i'm driving a beater

Your parking brake shoes are too tight. Loosen the adjustment a tad.

I actually took the rotor and caliper off to take a look inside to see what was going on. I didn't realise that on the backing plate there is another thin strip of metal going around the inside of it. I could see parts that were being worn down by the rotor as they were polished bright... I took a grinder to it and all is good now
