I've been thinking of this car, but the price keeps bouncing faster than a fox terrier on meth, it was $1800 including smog a couple weeks ago, then $1550 a couple days ago, now it is $1800 without smog, $2000 with, something seems a little fishey, it is so close to what I'm looking for, just needs Vanos, exterior color I can live with, but not my fave.
Edit, might as well add a link.

Whoa, the car is in pretty rough shape in and out.
I pick up parts cars that are better looking.

I agree. That car is in bad shape. With that kind of maintenance I will assume that it also has mechanical issues.

Something is amiss with the front end. Either the car was recently in the air and the struts have not settled, or something wasn't repaired correctly. Plus, there's body damage up front...
Pass.

That car definitely was treated badly. Pass.

200K and they're asking $3200?
Show up with half that in cash:D

Both of those looked over priced, even the second one. With that many miles you should be able to get it for less.

touring with everything working and excellent paint and interior is worth 3200...
you can't jsut pop out to the junkyard for spares after all
I'd say $2500 is a fair price if it is as immaculate as it seems, though you'd probably have to meet at $2800.
its an m50 NV from Cali and owned by a BMW guy... that is worth a premium. i'll be at 200k in a couple of months.

OP, walk way from the black on black unless you're gonna offer $800 or something. That thing looks like it won't make the drive back to your house. I haven't seen a passenger side seat rip like that (driver's side is understandable w/200k).
it's best to buy a touring that's well cared for. There's a green one for about 3200 down in the Bay Area (East Bay) I think...

No way I'd pay 2k for that :rolleyes if it wasn't a touring I'd skip it, is the green car an I6 or a V8? I just sealed the deal on 2 parts cars with black interiors, I believe I'll throw an offer at the black car and see what happens, I have an aversion to tan interiors, but put up with it in a couple cars I own, it works in my black e30 325ic, but I dislike it in an enclosed car, we keep a 1984 Peugeot turbo diesel around and the tan makes me insaine, but what can I say to 32-38mpg :alright
Shrike-
What do you have in your car for springs/suspension? That looks like a good stance.

Black one was posted yesterday I think.

Reposted, it has been up a few times, owner says price is because it runs so well and she just spent $140 on back fees, I don't see how this pertains to value :rolleyes

There is a green on in San Jose area - a 525iT. They are asking $4000 for it though. Also, what put me off is that it was sitting on a jack under the rear axle in the picture. I believe it had about 200K on it.
A member on here, Moroza also has a 530iT for sale - green on tan for $2K and it is in significantly better condition than this black.
I just took another look at this Black one and also noticed in the picture that the liner was hanging down. Anyone else notice this? I also agree with Shrike... that front end looks dodgy.

I should introduce them to "Elaine". And then tell them what I paid for her.

LOL, check the you tube video
my comments are there
damn, that car is a wreck...
it needs at least $3500 worth of parts alone, and is only worth $2500 in mint condition.
IE you have a driveable parts car. maybe worth $500-800 since it would not even pass inspection without hundreds of dollars invested.
What the hell did you do, pull it out of a field or something? there is no excuse for anyone letting a driven car get into such poor condtion
and
used black leather e34 seats $400-800
new black doorpanels $400
coolant level switch $30
new water pump and radiator and tstat housing $400
used lights $200
used hood and grill $400
200k suspension rebuild $1000
HAtch harnesses $500
sunroof seals $200
Non working sunroof $1000
$3950 in arts alone + $1500- 2000 in labor
+ 2000 asking price?
this on a car worth $2500-$3000 in excellent condition?
you are probably only getting $500 offers

Ahahaha I lol'd throughout that vid. I wonder what the new title is from? Maybe because it looks like he hit every car on the block up front and out back. And I especially liked the zoom in on the wind adhexive. Thats a real healthy sound from the engine, I guess now I know how flawless sounds.
And did he pop for a fart can muffler or takea cookie cutter to the oem one? I wonder how many times its been revved above 2k in park to hear the exhaust...
Also, looks like the owner might lurk here, judging how the tried to fix the seat twist, or twisted it that way so his friends can see him driving. Either way, if he sees this, I wonder- why do bad things happen to good cars?

WTFBBQ? Someone needs to lay off that low-grade Sac crack... My first thought was "running parts car with a sketchy history". 2k? :rofl
Mine has a sale pending, but no, its condition is not worth mentioning in the same sentence as this...specimen. That would be insulting.

I threw out an offer of $800 to see what happens, I really don't mind her sticking to her price, but saying that it is a "great car" :confused I figured I'd buy 2 parts cars and spend $1000-2000 on new parts, suspension ect, to have it in very good condition, but not for that price that she wants, I love the trashed busted back rest on the drivers seat
