last week i got a major flat tire. a massive bolt was stuck in my rear tire. No problem at the time with any shimmying or anything. When i put the stock spare on i took a look at the rings i had on my wheels. they were all rusty and didn't look good. I ordered a new set of rings and replaced all of them on all the wheels. Recently my car has been having a really bad shimmy/shaking at highway speed (50-60mph). I drive the speed limit now and drive everyday sort of long distances. I'm about to explode with the shimmy/shaking thats happening. I got the tires balanced today. The front tires were out of balance and i though it would get rid of the problem. well, it didn't. My front right wheel has a slight bend in it that i knew for a while. I'm guessing thats the problem so i may have to spend $200 to get the wheel straightened and refinished. I'm a study and i'm very broke right now, so life is fustrating. I checked all the suspension components with my mechanic and they all looked fine. Do bushings help eleminate this problem as well? basically i'm just ranting in this thread in furry!!:mad

Can you switch it with a rear wheel?

you need to jack the car up and shake it down first. that'll tell you if there is wear in the control arms or tie rods. if the rims in your sig make your car shake, its no surprise since bmw's are so sensitive to aftermarket wheels/ low profile tires in general. if the wheel is bent, check out alloy repair specialists. its a national franchise chain and they have done some work for me, and its only a little over $100 to get a wheel straightened. you just have to dismount the tire first.

i already had jacked up both front wheels and inspected them with my mechanic. shaked them hard and there is no play or clicking sound. suspension seems to be in good working order. These wheels have been on the car for 2 years now and beyerns are aftermarket but meant for bmw's. I think they are for the e39 so thats why i needed the rings. i may try putting the old rings on for gigs to see if it helps. maybe the guy gave me the wrong set of rings but they looked like a fit to me. here in canada its more expensive. the guy who balanced my tires said its probably 120$ to straighten and you might as well pay $150-170 to straighten and refinish it because it has some curb rash. Then mounting and all that. I'm guessing close to 200$. i'm broke no joke so its really tight for me to do anything. I drive the car everyday and i love driving it but now i dispise it!

beyern mesh have polished lips correct? a refinish of the lips if they are polished is a fairly easy and straightforward d.i.y.
if the front end is tight its def. the wheel.
centerbores are: 72.5 on e34, and a 74.1 on the e39.

they are clearcoated. I wish i can get all the lips polished but no moola. the front end seems tight. i want to put it on the hoist and tighten everything hopefully i can get around to doing that saturday... thanks for the centerbore measurements. i will check to make sure they are correct.

There are good and bad rings out there. As you know the ring thickness is merely 1.54 mm.
If the old rings worked fine and nothing else has changed except a flat tire then do a "windows restore" back to a known good condition and go from there.
