Side Shaft noise?

Hi guys,
Wonder if anyone can help me. I have a '92 525i Auto with 404 000 kilometers on the clock. Still going very well! Recently it started making a clunking noise from the left rear whenever I take a corner under power. Sort of a "kluk kluk kluk" sound. In fact the sound is similar to shot CV's on a FWD car. Any ideas?

Either:

1: differential - get a used replacement
2. rear wheel bearing - big PIA replacement
3. perhaps even driveshaft

You should be able to put it on jackstands and spin the offending wheel to zero in on the problem

Sounds like a failing halfshaft to me.
