Can anyone show me a picture of how the battery is supposed to be strapped down in the back of the e36 sedan?

I autocrossed yesterday and ended up using steel wire to secure the battery in place. Pretty ghetto.

Just looking to secure it the factory way.

No picture because I have the wrong battery because most parts stores always sell you the short battery not the long battery. Assuming you have the long battery you will have a threaded hole in the pan in the back where the tail light cover is located. In that hole should be a threaded rod (guessing the bolt head of that rod is like 8 m/m or so) with a 2 inch or so angled piece of metal on the bottom of the rod that fits over an angled lip in the battery on the bottom. You tighten the threaded rod in the hole using whatever works on the bolt. It tightens the battery to the bottom of the pan.

Like I said I have one correct long battery that works with the threaded bolt hold down and one with the short battery which all you can do is wedge a piece of 2 x 4 or heavy plastic on the positive pole side to push the battery to the hold down location.
Pressure from the piece of material applied on the positive side along with the hold down threaded rod will keep the battery secure. It will also be held some by the neg and pos cables...
It is much harder to describe then to actually do...
