So I'm looking to get some Front Camber adjustment on my 98 328is.

What's the cheapest route? I'm not lookig for any other upgrades. Just more camber adjustment on the stock strut.

I've seen an M3 OEM upper mount upgrade to gain some camber but does this work on the non-M struts in my car?

Thanks

you can get some 96+ M3 strut mounts and swap them. Search the forum for exact details. I've done this and it gave me -2.5 deg camber.

Cheap- 96+ hats swapped will yeild a no-adjustable -2.5 degrees, probably too much for decent front tire wear on the street. You will spend the extra in tires.

Smart Economical Move- Vorshlag E36 Camber plates. Slide it from street to track setting and save your tires both street and track. WE SELL THEM.

Of course, we sell our own TC Kline Plates if your budget changes.

Is -2.5 really to much for decent tire wear? Its seems to be the recommended setting for a good street alignement up front.

I'm just surprised that every camber plate offered for this car is over $300.

-2.5 is ok for tire wear as long as the front toe is 0.

There maybe some fixed camber plates or ebay camber plates cheaper than $300, but the vorshlag,GC, or tc kline are made well and proven on the track.

I have the Tc kline camber plates on two cars, very good product. I have heard of switching the hats, bimmerworld has a shim kit. I would save the money and go with Tc's setup.

I hear you all on the quality camber plate issue, and the Tc kline products look very nice.

Right now the car is just my DD and it doesn't seem much if any track time. It might see 5 laps total on small 3km track this summer just for a hoot. I have another car for the track. I'll pick up some camber plates when I do the struts and springs.

So the M3 plate switch will give me -2.5ish.. prefect I think I'll try that this summer.

And of course get the alignment checked to make sure the toe is in spec and its not giving me too much camber.

Thanks for the info guys.

Appreciate it.

I agree. If you have a little toe in with 2.5 degrees, the inside edge tire wear may not be too bad. If you track with 2.5 you stand a chance of wearing the outside edge. Toe out would help this problem on the track. If you simply are not going to spend the money for adjustable camber plates, this is the best. However, it will cost you approx 1/2 for the parts vs the Vorshalg. You need to consider labor as well.

Adjustable plates are truly the only answer, because toe changes relative to the camber adjustment, which keep everything pretty much in sync. You are only talikn about a $200.00 difference for something that you stated that you will be buying in the future anyway. I hope I have helped you.

My thinking on the matter is that I will most likely end up with coil-overs at some point down the road so why spend the extra on plates now that I will most likely replace with what comes on the coil-overs when purchased. I can pick up the M3 hats new for a little over $100USD and have them in my hands today.

I appreciate the voice of experience you offered to the thread and I will be strongly considering ordering from you when ever possible.

Thanks for the advice.
