I am planning on getting my 17" BBS basket weaves extended to 11" wide for my widebody e30 but before i do i would like to know if there is a tire that fits a rim this size. I would prefer it to have a stock low profile look when mounted, meaning no over stretching or squeezing to make the tire fit but any subjection will help. Thanks

For your requirements, probably a 295, 305 wide tire

when I ran 17x11s on my ta, I used to run nitto 335/35-17 drag radials. They ran a little small compared to bfg drag radials. 315/35-17 would be the smallest I would go, unless you are looking for that stretch look, then go with the above sizes that the other posters said

You are absolutely correct. I just took time to do the math and a 295 would give it a bit of a stretch. I may end up looking towards 355/35 or 40 if i can get either of those sizes. Do you have any pics you can share of your setup?

Here's some 335/35-17s. Lifted it off a google search. The wheels are 17x11
This is just to give you an idea how a 335 will fit.

This is the look im looking for but this is on a 18x11 rim. I think it will come down to the tire profile that decides the size i will go with.281495

Not that I have the experience first hand with drag radials, but I'd imagine you're want to go with them if your aim is street driving and the drag strip. Otherwise, as far as handling goes, go with something more designed for that. Wouldn't a drag rad have a much softer sidewall than other tires biased towards track and auto-x competition... where launch and straight acceleration grip takes a secondary seat to design for cornering?
Enlightenment pls.:)

I wasn't trying to steer the OP in a drag radial tire. Just to show what a 335/35 looks like. Other posts were stating to run a 295 or 305 size tire on a 11" wide rim.
I'm sure that a dr will not be the correct set up for a auto-x type application hence the reason it's called a drag radial.

Nitto drag radials are actually pretty good for the twisties. I've also seen people do well at the autox on the nittos. I used to run them on my previous cars and the only reason I dont use them on my BMW is the lack of a good front fitment for my car.

I thought I've seen people use them before, way back in the late 90s when "I think" there was a lack of available dot race tires. thanks for adding that comment:buttrock

In most cases a drag radial wouldnt be used for handling purposes. I guess the Nitto's just happen to be good for it. If i can get the right look i might go with Nitto's but not the DR. Im not ready to buy yet so i have time to shop around. Any other suggestion for a common tire of the right size?

The proxes are nice but they have a sort of bubbled profile so would have to put a stretch on them.
