yup they are. I was just wondering if 235/40 on an 18x8.5 wheel would match a 240/40 on an 18x8 wheel.

Not sure what you mean. Are you trying to run a 245/40 (there's no such thing as a 240/40) on 18 x 8 front (or rear) with 235/40 on 18 x 8.5 rear (or front)?

235/40/18 works fine on E36, assuming wheel width and offset are appropriate
245/40/18 is a bit tall (about 4% taller than OEM) for an E36, 245/35/18 is a far better fit for E36 (but there aren't a lot of tire model options available in 245/35/18 size).

My fault. I made a typo. lol I meant 225/40 in the fronts.

I was just asking because I have the 225s in the fronts on 18x8 et35 wheels and I was not sure if 235/40's would be a good match for 18x8.5 et35 for the rears.

I am looking for a meatier side wall as I am not looking to roll the fenders anymore or drop the ass end too much. Just looking to fill the wheel well up with a little bit more rubber.

***I forgot to add that I have already rolled the fenders a bit.

I missed the fitment sticky. Sorry for posting this as a separate thread. I will post this again in there.

If you're looking for a meatier sidewall and fill the wheel wells up a bit more, 235/40/18 would be a good choice (compared to 225/40/18). Another option would be 255/35/18, but that won't work on an 18 x 8.5" ET35 wheel, even with the fender lips rolled - you'd have to pull the fenders out some to clear that low offset
