It's near 5:30AM and I'm still working on the car in hopes of gaining a little recognition at the upcoming WheelPower meet with my little baby, Sir 333i. I've been pampering him and showering him with lots of tender love and care since Sunday night (no joke) and I'm still not done. Today, I got two of the calipers painted (and goddam do they look badass!), steam washed the engine, repainted my mesh, touched up the front and rear bumpers, detailed the interior half way, and cleaned two of the rims while they were off for the caliper painting.

I have yet to wax the entire car (so far only clay barred and polished), paint the other 2 calipers, polish the exhaust, finish detailing the interior, reattach the front and rear bumpers along with the ///M mouldings and sidemarkers, as well as install my custom cold ram air piping while putting the front bumper on. I hope the full day tomorrow will be enough to accomplish such tasks that still remain ahead of me. Ongoing, I hope that somehow the bimmer gods can give me enough strength to do all these things by myself (since none of my friends seem to wanna help me - instead, they think im insane) even if time does permit. I will let you know of my status as of tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll be done and I can celebrate with a couple of cold ones (which sound damn tasty right about now). Until then...back to the haystacks......

Tiredly Yours,

If you need any help, I'm bored as hell. I could probably be of some use. I'm in Torrance anyway how did you steam clean you engine bay?

Thanks for the offer G. As for how I steam cleaned the engine...went to pep boys and got some automotive strength Simple Green. Removed my K&N cone filters (both of em) and covered up the hole with plastic bags and rubber bands and sprayed the stuff on. The night before I put in a 200 ft water hose and left it out in the sun the entire day. The water when it comes out is PIPING hot! So basically I get a nice minute to minute and half of disgustingly hot water to blast the engine with. Just a touch of armoral on some dry spots and it looks freaggin clean! :D

Talk about a smart man... good thinking. I'd help ya man, but I'm way on the other side of the earth (not really -- more like country), but still.

Good luck... we never have anything as large as Wheel Power meets down here.

Here's a tip for you guys.

I'm not a big fan of Armorall because over a long period of time it can degrade rubber. But hell, so what, over a long period of time, I'm going to be dead :)

So here's the tip.

Start the car and drive it around for a few minutes until the temp gauge is about halfway warmed up. Not fully hot.

Pull back into the driveway or wherever you wash your car. Open the hood and absolutely soak the entire engine compartment with Armorall. Everything. Paint, wiring, engine, everything.

Close the hood and let it sit overnight. Next morning rinse lightly and dry everything off. An air compressor blow drying the engine bay is great but I understand not everyone has one.

Armorall in the engine bay overnight is like Easy Off in an oven.

It cleans everything. Leaves a nice shine on your wiring too :)

I wouldn't do this every week, it is expensive to use a quart or so a week and may cause damage if used extensively. But it works.

Thanks man.

I didn't come up with the idea about Armorall. A guy at a car show, for Corvettes of all things, told me. I tried it on my wife's car first a couple of years ago. It worked!

You may want to do the same thing, try it on mom or dad's car first if you have your doubts :)

Nice Saeed. I'm impressed again, as always.

Jsp, does the armor all trick work for seriously filthy engines like mine? Plus, would I need to remove my K&N cone?
