it seems like the wiring; there's no rhyme or reason to when they cut out, but sometimes i notice them on, and othertimes I notice them off. They are plugged in, I know that for sure; I randomly check when I catch them off. sometimes its jsut one side on and one off. Is it easy to replace the wiring? The fogs themselves are aftermarket, but they did this before i switched them too.
thanks for the move

perhaps checking the 2 wires to the white fog light plug. seen several e36s with the wiring bent almost through - for this problem, simple soldering to fix.

Check the switch then the wires inside of the fog light connector. My fog light were doing that and I found the wire covering in the fog light connectors had overheated and cracked to pieces leaving two exposed wires that touched when the car would hit a bump.

Do you have after market headlights? If so make sure all the plugs are tight. When my two highbeams were not grounded the foglights wouldn't work.
