View Full Version : Brake wear sensor?

I've been a long time BMW owner and I'm flying down to visit my parents to change the brakes on their Mini (non-s). Their mechanic said the pads are worn completely on the rear and within 5% on the front.

My question is: Do Mini's not have break pad wear sensors? Every BMW I've owned newer than '92 has a sensor on both the front and rear pads. The reason I'm confused is that I'm being told that there is no pad wear warning light showing in the cluster, but bimmerzone.com shows pad wear sensors as part options for the brakes.

It's an '03.

Thanks,
Jeff

I had an '02 and '04 before we bought the wife's '08. To my knowledge, none of them have pad wear sensors.

All MINI's have them, one on the rear and one on the front. If the caliper has used up the opposite pad it wont trigger the sensor. Check for a hung up caliper/pad.
