I've a plastic mirror hang-tag, I suppose that's what it would be called. For some reason I couldn't connect it to the rearview mirror, so I put it on the dash.
Now it appears to have been swallowed in to the space between the dash and windshield.
Surely I can't be the only person to have this happen, so does anyone know of a way to get it out, short of removing the dash or windscreen?
Any help would be most appreciated, as I don't exactly want to drop $90 on a piece of plastic that's under my dash, and I'm also not too keen on dismantling my interior.

Spending $90 is going to be a easier pill to swollow than pulling your dash.:mad

Wow man that's no fun... It cannot be too far down.. How about still wet spray adhesive on a flat piece of .040 Aluminum about 2 feet long and an inch wide? Stick it to it! Just be really careful and dont get that shit on anything else...

Option 2
Will insurance replace you windsheild for free?? If so bust it out and reach in to grab it??

I agree with Kevin... $90 is way better than pulling your dash....

Good luck with the recovery!! I almost did that once, about 1/4 in. was left sticking out.

A good idea, but upon further inspection the pass is already flat and partially underneath the dash, so I doubt that'll work.

I did think about insurance, but it seems like such a hassle, plus I couldn't bring myself to do that to the poor e36, even with all the times it's broken on me.

I guess I'll be off to the bank then. Thanks guys. I knew that I could rely on BFC for something, even if this is it.

You might be able to get it from underneath. Pull out the panel in the footwell and look around with a flashlight.

And we have success. After taking off the bolt by the door and pulling the dash out a bit, I was able to use some agile finger work :shifty in combination with a lengthy screwdriver to get it out. Hopefully this can help anyone else who gets in a situation like this. :alright

this sounds crazy but take a strip of a magazine cover and cut it length ways into a strip and put some stocky tack on the tip ( like the stuff that holds credit cards to paper when they mail it or even window sealer) then slide it down and pull it out. I did this with my school parking pass.
