Why not just turn it off? Is their performance gained by deleting it?

Not really, you save some weight, but its not really a lot. The biggest thing I know of is not having to turn it off all the time. I'm not sure but it seems to me like it also might allow you to run a more simple throttle body setup which might improve flow, someone else will have to comment to be sure, im not sure there are many options for other TBs.

maxxchris is pretty much right. I hear it can add like 2hp but I dont really care. Mine's been broken for a while. I just bought the part to fix it off a member a week ago. I installed the part but my carsoft is wack and won't let me reset the light.

Ive never understood this either. It would suck not to have in the rain imo.

Only men can control their beastly e36's in the wet. Ive got no ASC and bald sport tires. That makes me manly i swear. :shifty

the reason mine is deleted is because the boot that ran between the ASC throttle body and the main throttle body was more expensive than the non ASC throttle body. and since mine needed to be replaced due to a massive hole in the bottom side of the boot, i went with the non ASC boot and 'modded' my car.

I have no problems handling the car in the rain. Its just nice to have, plus i dont have an LSD.

Naww, it's actually fine. You just have to be a little more careful. My 94 did not have ASC and it was fine. My 97 does have ASC and it's fine too, either on or off. Just remember which way you set it!

My understanding is that the ASC incorporates a second "throttle body" in the intake path, before the main intake throttle body. This acts as a restrictor to air coming in the intake path. By eliminating the ASC throttle body you allow more air to your intake manifold.
I have never had my intake hose off so, I cannot comment on the actual size of the ASC throttle body.
It's also possible that this restriction does not really become an issue until you've already performed the M50 manifold swap (for you OBD2 cars), aftermarket exhaust manifold, S50/S52 cams+chip, and other performance mods. At that point the ASC restriction may become more apparent.

my ASC+t has not worked for the past 2 years... I'm deleting it mostly cause no one can figure out whyTF it wont work.
+ though it will not give you a ton of extra HP, once removed, it will certainly help the engine breathe better - since there will be one less restricton on the path to the 'real' throtle body.
++ I tried using the ASC+T on snow (when it did work) & it would not let the wheels turn at all - pretty scary while in the middle of the intersection, for example - so I would just turn it off anyway.
Rain is no problem without it - unless you simply can't drive... but, LSD helps a bit too.

from what I have seen most people delete it so they dont have to pay to replace an expensive part that has, or might break. Kinda like preventative maintenance.

The ASC throttle body is a smaller diameter than the actual engine TB. The smaller ASC TB sits before the real TB, basically causing a bottleneck in the intake system. And the ASC interrupt is really annoying, it just cuts throttle instantly. Ever hit some sand accelerating up a hill in the dry? It's like the car dies for a moment. I also find it a safety issue, because there have been times I've been trying to scoot across an intersection quickly and the car cuts power if you lose traction, causing you to get scarily close to other drivers..

Good point, never really thought about it like that.
