I have a 318i e46 2001, I just feel a slight vibration on the steering wheel when the car is running and when it is on idle. And also feel a little sound when car runs on wavy or bad roads. I just got the suspensions checked by a local mechanic and he said there is no massive fault on my car and it needs some new bushes including steering rack replacement for this his full amount was $1600 all up.
My question is does it really need steering rack replacement?
Is it worth to get it done by at that price?

might be cab's which is a bit more common than a rack. get a second opinion though if you don't trust the guy
