Edit: Ive been seeing alot of car with their sideskirts and bumper matching their car's paint. ie red car, red sideskirts, with the same glossiness and everything. Is this something that comes stock, or do you paint your plastic parts (is it even possible?)

Alternatively, would there be a way to get all of my plastc parts to a deep black (while still maintaining the plastic texture)

.................................................. .............................................

I was wondering how faded my side skirts and molding are.

Were they originally black or gray? If they were gray, but a much darker grey, how can I get them back to that color (Forever Gray? lol)

Sideskirts were gray but moldings were black. Forever black works for a week.

3M makes some great stuff for bringing back the 'blackness' of the side moulding. I use it every time I wax.

Since it's clear (not white or black) I would expect it to work fine for the grey stuff too- making them dark grey.

Trying to think... :confused I think it is 3M vinyl and rubber treatment, and it works great on the side trim. I need to rememer what it is because I need to order more myself... Smells pleasant too.

I even use it on my Land-Rover (Defender) side mirrors. These are black, but look like your side skirts after a winter of neglect. They come back DEEP black! No kidding! Great stuff...:buttrock

A friend of mine was a detailer and he gave me some professional black but it was more like paint. It lasted alot longer but was thicker and tended to look streaky. I've been using Mother's. It lasts for a couple weeks between washes.

Or.........you can just paint them

honestly I would sand it with like 800 grit and clean it really well then just go buy a can of bumper trim black spray paint. you could prime it too I guess just make sure you sand lightly between coats. that would leave the texture and bring everything up to date. all for like $10

I like your idea. Would I sand all the texture off? Will the surface still be somewhat matte or will it become glossy??

As far as removing the bumper/sideskirts... It is all removable fairly easily, right? clips and screws?

Anyone have a DIY Link?
