what does the light between the tach and speedo that is a circle with an arrow and triangle in the middle mean? it was on ever since i got the car and i thought maybe tpms (aftermarket wheels with no sensor) but didnt know if it came with one. but with my new wheels/tires on, light went away. i dont think i did anything else. and i dont think tirerack would put sensors in if thats it.
oh, another thing. any clue on what would cause a chime to go off three times slowly that seems to come from the instrument panel? after about half an hour of driving, i get three chimes. i do have a cel and airbag light on and thought maybe a warning chime to check gauges? thanks

ASC+T (Automatic Stability Control plus Traction) you could have had the ASC button on and somehow turned it off by accident, that is if you have the button.

ah, thats what that button is. no wonder it has felt jittery at high rpms in first. wondered what asc meant.

+1 on ASC-T button or malfunction/delete. Check memo button on OBC for three beeps just before each hour, or outside temp has reached 37F.

my outside temp on the obc isnt working. it always says -35. but that definitely could explain beeping. i was screwing around with the obc. but my clock screen wont light up (i can read it with a light on it) and i did something to turn it off once started.
man dealing with this bimmer makes me feel like a complete newb to cars. haha

-35 on the OBC means your outside temp sensor is unplugged or gone. I'd put my money on gone though.
Chiming is probably the memo function, although I seem to recall two other bimmers dinging on startup because of the missing temp sensor. Shouldn't do it while driving though.

any picture of what it looks like? i do have some connectors that are not hooked up. one is on the driver side right about where my filter is. i think it is a three wire connector. it is like a rubber tipped connector. also go a similar one hanging in front of the radiator.

more than likely thats your fog light connector that your looking at, which goes un-used if you dont have fogs

ive got fog lights, but one of them has that connector, the other has a normal plastic one. guess i have some work ahead to figure out what is up

Fog lights are the strange white looking connectors.
Here's the outside temp sensor-
