I was going for the obligatory pitbull and chrome shot.. But unfortunately, my dog is a $30 mutt from the pound, she was blinking, and they're only 17's :mad

haha.. yeah I've measured them. They're big! I am basically using all of the wheels you see here to make my dream set. I'm going for VERY staggered look.. Front lips will be very small and rears, well, they won't be. Not quite sure what the exact final measurements are going to be yet, I still have a long day of splitting and sealing ahead of me.

Thanks! I'm trying to stretch them as little as possible.. But at these offsets it probably means 225/45 on a 9" and 255/40 on a 10.5".. I was going to make them 11's but I really don't think it's worth the extra hassle.

Yeah she's great.. I got her 2 days before she was going to be put down because she had kennel cough, worms and she had been there for a while. I had to spend some $$ at first to get her right but she's been the best dog I've ever had up to this point:buttrock

Should have some updated pictures today. Fronts will be finished and I'm going to try to seal up and finish the rears as well.

Made some progress.. Seals are drying on the rears now. All that's left on them is to drop the centers in and they're finished. I'm taking the fronts to work to polish them and after that they'll be ready also..

Clusterfawk.. You can see what I was talking about with the very staggered look though, the two "assembled" wheels are my fronts and rears:

I know.. I always liked how huge staggered setups looked on 930's and the like. If it looks stupid, I have plenty of options :)

Maybe so, we'll see. But I have quite a few different lip/barrel options available to me so if it does I can change it up very easily.. Especially since you don't have to break seals on HRE's when you swap centers.

It's laminate btw.. The rest of the house is hardwood though:pimpflash

Wow. I was like...wow he sold those amazing looking HRE "Testarossa" wheels, why he'd do that?

But now I see. These look too sick. Can't wait to see them on your car. What's the brand?

I really like how you have the font centers dropped in from the front and the rear ones from the backside (or does it only look like that) as I can see the front centers sticking out a little bit from the lips. And I like that. And slanted lips for the win.

PS: interesting to see this kind of modular wheel. Haven't seen this before. With that I mean the fact that the outer and inner lip get sealed and the center can be dropped in later and doesn't need seperate sealing.
I've only seen my own RS 3 piece wheels and there the center is sandwiched between the inner and outer lip and you seal these 3 pieces together.

Yeah.. That's what I really like these wheels, makes for easy color changes and whatnot. The 505's mounted between the barrels, these 504's mount in front of the barrels and 501's mount from the rear. Both of my centers are mounted on the front side, as the ones that mount from the rear (501's) have a machined notch in the face so they sit flush with the mounting surface. They are HRE's again, btw

10.5 et -12? ... stretch!

I'm trying not too.. Apparently bridgestones run pretty wide too, the last 255's I had on a 10.5 stretched way more than this. I'm dropping the wheels off tomorrow to be milled, so hopefull 10.5 ET -7 is the ticket :)

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Jcbe34
03-12-2009, 10:49 PM
I'm thinking about it.. But machining the centers would cost less than tires, I wouldn't have to dismount/mount again and if I bought new rears I'd have to get different fronts because 245/40's would be shorter in total diameter. That's what I love about these wheels, air them down, pop the centers out, do work, re-install and you're good to go.
