How's it going guys,
My uncle has a 2001 525i with only 2800 miles on it. He bought the car as a collectible but now has to sell it due his business closing down and he is in danger of foreclosure on his house. The car is in amazing condition, still has the new car smell and he kept it in the garage all the time with towels covering it :). The car is black, with beige leather, automatic, 2800 miles on it paint and everything is immaculate!!! Now to the bad part, I went on kbb and it was saying that retail on it is only like 11k :(, I don't think thats correct because I have a 525i also with 88k miles on it and the retail is about the same on it. So what you guys think he can get for it?
Thanks in advance

2800 miles? I would personally stay away from a car like that because of the lack of being driven. I don't know what you would waste $40k+ on a normal daily driver as a collectible either, seems really odd.
Price? $15k max.

Not sure why he did it, he bought the car brand new and also had an old mazda that he used to drive back and forth to his restaurant. The bmw was just driven on weekends a little bit. I wish I had the money to buy it :)

Unfortunately prices have came WAY down.
Tell him to list it as high as he wants and come down from there. If he needs to move it fast though I'd start at 15 or 16.

Has he taken it to a BMW dealer for a price?
act like he wants to trade it in..
post a link when it's listed for sale, or, post some pics
How are the tires? I'd be concerned about possible dry rot..
Also, it's still an 8 yr old car.

Collectibles don't get collectible til they're 20 or 25 years old. He's going to have to go by the book and sell really hard on the mileage (which would scare me off... my car gets bitchy when it sits for a while).

Too bad it isn't an M5, that would be collectible, especially if it was an 03.
Is this for real? How the hell do you have an 8 year old car that isn't even ready (mileage wise) for an oil change? Who buys the entry level model as a collectible? Your uncle must be a pretty eccentric sort.
