it went in to have them fix somethings they didnt fix last time it was in ( which ended up being 5 days )

when i went to bring it in for them to fix the rest the door locks broke that morning so they are fixing them however i dropped the car off 11 days ago or 6 working days

is this normal ???? i called the SM last friday and he said the warehouse with the parts had moved so thats why it was taking so long ? and that when he gets the parts it will take about an hour

mind you i had to call him, he didnt feel inclined to call me and let me know the situation

so at this rate this car we just bought has been in the shop almost longer then we have owned it

im a little annoyed with BMW quality

all i can say is thank go its still under warranty but this has now got me thinking i should purchase an exteneded when ours runs out

we have factory til nov 09' then the 50k or 100k miles till nov 2011

Parts availability can be an issue as I doubt many service departments carry much inventory. Like you said, a simple call from the SM would probably go a long way towards setting your expectations for when the vehicle will be ready. Good service is hard to find, huh?

As for BMW quality, our 335i is the first BMW we've owned. Granted, it is a first model year (07), but we've had our share of issues. Do I expect better quality? Sure. If you plan on keeping yours, I would recommend the extended warranty. Vehicle repairs are not cheap, especially BMWs.

All cars have problems, all of them. The quality survey shows a number of vehicles that are brought in for problems which all cars are listed. BMW, Toyota Ferrari...all break, all have problems. You bought a used car and it comes with the fact that you might have bought somebody else's problems. Which is why it's hard for me to buy used.

Now the question is are you driving a BMW now and have a loaner? Are they making you feel like you are being taken care of? That is what makes a brand to me is dealing with the problems.

Parts can be a pain to get if they aren't something that breaks often. Part of life. Ask them to take care of you somehow for buying a car that wasn't ready..or ask if they do an exchange if you aren't happy.

well i got a call that the car was ready this afternoon ......

i got the keys and started out of the parking lot before i checked to see if the door locks actually all worked sure enough the passenger side will not lock

where was quality control on that ??

i immediatly drove back into the fast service lane

i told my SA and he had some mexican come out look at the car and say it will be fixed in ten minutes

while standing there before it was taken away i noticed a quite large deep scratch in the roof over the rain gutter and over the edge of the door ( this was definitely not there when i gave it to them ) then proceeded to look at the rest of the car and notice the paint is entirely swirled marked up

now it is a black car but the car was not enitrely swirled marked up when we got it

Now i went straight to the Service manager and explained that this service is far from stellar

apparently BMW doesnt hand wash your car they run it thru a car wash they have on site ( this now explains why mar car looks like poo when we get it back everytime

So the car comes back out nad door lock works apparently they didnt have the door card put on correctly ?!?!?!? So now i am wondering what else is not done correctly ?

i handed my keys to the SA and they are doing a complete detail and fixing the scratch and replaing the rain gutter

i just do not understand the service i am getting on this car we had much better service from MINI when we owned our cooper "s" at least they hand wash and detail our car and everytime they fixed something it was done correctly and in a timely fashion

BMW of NA will be getting a nice letter explaining the problems and complete lack of disregaurd for there customers and there time

at this point the car has been inthe shop half the time we have owned it

Dude, change dealers's. BMW NA will tell you dealers are independently owned and they have no control over them, I've been down that road before. That being said, give this dealer a bad review, they may get some heat from BMW NA to improve their service/quality of work, but don't wait, find another dealer immediately, there are tons in NJ within reasonable distance from each others last time I checked.

There is no quality control in any dealer. I have told the manager at my dealer that I was really surprised when I come to pick up the car that the receptionist tells me the work is done and nobody comes out to show me or explain anything. But I have the with VW and Audi. I guess Dodge was the only one to do that for me.

It's the dealer. I ask them to never wash my car because it's black and I've watched the detail guy drop his towel on the ground and pick it up and just keep using it. They swirled my car several times and I complained...my solution is to just ask them to not wash it...and it reminds me why I'll never buy a black car again.
