How many of you got the wrong lights when you ordered them. I got mine a couple of weeks ago and just put them on, of course i got the low beam error message.
So then i looked at them since i had ordered the apex 3/4 to avoid that problem and after looking at the pics on their website i determined that i had the smaller slim ballasts.... i specifically didn't order the slims because of the low beam error.
So then i searched through previous posts and saw that some of you had been "upgraded"??? to the slim ballast but i am guessing you received documentation to that effect, something to notify you that they were out and were upgrading you. I got no invoices, no documenation, nothing with mine to indicate that this was happening.
Its a minor point but i still find this annoying, so i get to use that extra harness after all to paralled some resistors..

happened to me. i orderd the 3/4 to save some dough, and i recived the slim kit. No notification either. It didn't bother me tho, i was sure i was going to get a low beam anyways, and the slim kit mounted up much easier..

i ordered 2 ddm hid kits 2 weeks ago and send them to a US address in seattle, washington and still have no received them. its past the holiday season and i dont think they have been shipped yet. i'm a little bit annoyed by that and hope they dont send me the wrong kit although i did order the slim ballasts. will i get an error code on putting them on my foglights? i think so right?

I read about people being "upgraded" to the slims as well. That's why I specified the full size ballasts in the comments section, and that's what I received.

I ordered the full size Apexcone 5000k 55W kit and got the full size kit. I don't get the low beam error. The easiest way to tell is that the slim kit has a seperate small box on the wiring that plugs into the bulb. The 5000K is too yellow though so I think I'm going to order a set of 6000K bulbs. I had a 6000k kit in the past and hated it because it was too blue but I think it may be just right with the 55W kit.

Uh, too yellow? Surely you mean, "not blue enough for my taste?"

There is no way you can call this "too yellow."

No, I mean too yellow. Yours look white, mine have a yellow tinge to them. How long have you had yours in? Do they change color a bit over time? I had a 5000K 35W kit before and was hoping for less blue with the 55W kit.

Bringing back the dead thread... Do most of you get even output from your ddm's?
Mine one side is definitely brighter than the other side when shining them on a blank wall from 20 feet to adjust...

I had the same issue when I first installed a previous kit. I had to move the bulb a bit in the housing. If its not centered properly it effects the output.

Bill, if you're using ellipsoids you may want to consider taking them apart and cleaning the reflectors, you can certainly have one dirtier than the other. Swap bulbs and ballasts side to side and see if the dark side changes or stays.

I took them apart while the car was being painted and cleaned them, in fact i mentioned the special 3 blade philips type bit needed to take the lens apart.

I had this same issue and I just swapped the bulbs from side to side and it fixed it somehow.

Must have been in a thread I missed. Mine used the one-way screws, long angles needle nose were the way to go. If it's not the lens, try swapping just ballasts to see if one of them is outputting low, or if it's the bulb.

Yeah I must have missed that during one of the outages. Wish I had screws like that too, the number of times I've taken my lights apart.

Order a set of rplacement bulbs they were too yellow and one bulb was defective. Sent them back and after 2 weeks of waiting the second set of bulbs came, they weren't as yellow as the first set, but like the first set one bulb was bad. Return the bulbs and now waiting for the third set of bulbs from DDM.

With no name on the box I figure these bulbs are all made in CHINA. The base of the bulb appears to be cheaply made or flimsy compare with the bulb from my original HID kit that I brought for the car and which was made in JAPAN.

Honestly, do you expect the kit to have the same quality of a $300 kit?

FYI, so far my ddm bulbs seem to work fine. I installed them last fall. 4500k 55w bulbs look of equal intensity and are slightly whiter than my halogen high beams.

Satisfied with product. That said, I also did not get the kit I ordered. I was "upgraded". Customer service via e-mail is hit/miss and over the phone I got the impression I was speaking to "some surfer dude/kid" who knew just enough about HIDs to be a bit unclear on advice. I also had a "bulb out" situation and used the resistor fix. Their Bulb Out Warning (BOW) device looked like junk and did not work.

I have 5000k 55watt in my low beams. As you can see, they're pure white compared to my fog lights.

So after all that, I just installed my HID fogs. Totally a different color than the lows. I got the 6000k that I ordered for the lows just fine, I don't know how I managed to get lucky and install them in the lows the first time, but the fogs are like 5000k. They look pure white. I'll live with it, but it doesn't match and isn't worth the hassle of dealing with sending anything back.

i have 6000k, 35watt lows, and stock fogs. I like the contrast, and the fogs still work

After letting the bulbs heat up for a while they've cooled in color a little. They're still not a match, but it's closer.

Add me to the list of dissatisfied DDM customers. Order a set or replacement bulb for my HID setup on 12/26/2008. Didn't get them until the end of January, 2009. When I installed the new bulb, one of the new bulb did not light up. Switch the bulb with the other side and sure enough the same bulb still didn't like up, so my ballast were o.k.

Called DDM and they ask me to return them. Return the bulb and and about 2 weeks later I got my replacement bulbs. Went to install them again and again one of the bulb didn't like up. Again I switch the bulb and the defective bulb move to other side and the good bulb still work on the other ballast, so my ballast are still good.

Again I called DDM and explain the problem. They asked me to return the bulbs and I sent them back. Got an email from someone at DDM stating that they tested the bulbs and they were working. I reply that when I installed them they did not work for me. They inform me that they can ship the bulbs back for an additional $6.75, or if I use USPS it would be $4.00.

I told them that I just wanted a refund at this point in time because I did not want the bad bulbs shipped back to me. They email me asking for a credit card number for the refund. I reply that I paid them through paypal and gave them my paypal account. I got another email requesting that I ship back the rest of the item besides the bulbs. I informed them that I only ordered the bulb from them.

Got a refund of $10.36 to my paypal account. I originally sent them $36.00 for the bulbs. Ask them why the amount was only $10.36. They said that there was a 15% restocking fee and I had to pay for the return of the defective bulbs.

Now I know why they don't ship right away, after a month has elapse, Paypal will not intervene on your behalf for the dispute. SO they made a profit of $25.64.

Hope this save someone the headache that I just went through with DDM. There are better sellers out there. Stay away from DDM.
