Hello people...

I have recently bought my first bimmer and am trying to the hang of its features. It is a 06 325i Steptronic with cold package. The car is amazing....no questions asked! :buttrock But here are some basic questions (before I start flipping thru the user manual...)

- How do I know if my car is E90 or E46

- My car does not have Blue Tooth capability and when I consulted the dealer he says, since mine is an earlier version on 06s & although there are steering mounted controls for BT, I really can't have BT installed UNLESS I spend thru the nose for upgrading it to premium package :shifty. Are there any decent after market BT adaptors for my car. My initial search on this site revealed that there is something called "Parrot Bluetooth car kit"..links below
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_333CK3100B/Parrot-CK3100-Black.html?search=parrot+bluetooth&tp=8395

Also, further researching fetched me another option...linky below

http://bavariansoundwerks.com/product/497/305/BMW-E46-Bluetooth-Phone-Kit/

- Can someone please guide me which is compatible with my car? I am looking at features listed in the Bavariansoundwerks' BT stuff in Parrot's BT. Is it possible?...I mean, is it possible to scroll thru the phonebook in the BMW's car audio display itself using Parrot BT ? (I know I must have confused a lotta people with this question, please ask for clarification :) )

- Also SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH, my car does not have an Alarm sytem. That was a deadly shocker to me on a Friday morning when I found it from my dealer. I mean, for crying out loud, I paid well over 22 grand.... hello show people like me some mercy BMW. So anyways, are there any cheaper after market Alarm Systems without voiding my car's warranty. I have original warranty until sep 09 and also BMW's CPO kicking in after for until 2 years; so the last thing I want to see is to have the warranty voided just because I got stingy for a few hundred bucks...

- And lastly, why is it spelled Bimmer and not Beamer. The pronunciation matches with the latter.

Thanks a gazillion for taking time to read my ultra boring and lengthy question. Any responses are greatly greatly appreciated. Stay safe y'all....:redspot

type in bmw e46 in google images and then bmw e90 and see which yours looks like

in my opinion, alarm systems are pretty much useless. as soon as someone hears one go off whats the first thing they think? 'shut the fuck up you stupid alarm'. they dont think, shit, 'someones trying to rob a car outside'.

beamer is bmw motorcycle, bimmer is car. im not sure about everyone else, but i personally dont give a crap about how its pronounced, other people might though, but thats just me

and sorry, i dont have anything to say about bluetooth

Thanks fyfee.....I did not know they call BMW motorcycles Beamer....that makes sense!! And as far as Alarm - it is just a personal gratification, I guess. And yeah, I still need somebody to help me with the bluetooth. Again, thanks for your response!

Oh btw, I did exactly what you said ...Image googled my car and yeah, it is a E90
