750 Differential in a 540

it seems like a couple people have done this swap. What is involved. Obviously the diff, do you need a custom drive shaft? half shafts?

yes, e32 v8 diffs can work only if fitted with an e39 m5 diff cover. A rev 540 cover won't work. You also need to make a custom bracket for the front mounting hole.

I think you have to swap the axle flanges and do a custom driveshaft, but it works... I have pics on my work comp.

direct swap for the e34 540's... maybe that's what you saw.

Supposedly it fits on an e39 if you use a e39m5 diff cover. There is a member on here whos done it..
