Does anybody know the differences between the two 6spd trans? They are still new enough that info is hard to come by and I don't have both available to compare them. Maybe even a picture of each of them? Any help if appreciated.

Z4's are E46 based and came with the M54 before switching over to the N52 later on, so it might not be the same for the early cars as it is for the later cars. I'm not real familiar with the difference between the new and old 6-speeds aside from the shifters being different.
RealOEM says it's the same 6-speed trans number for the whole Z4 model run, so that means any 6-speed from a Z4 non-M should mate up to an N52. The first 3 digits of the Z4 trans and the E90 325 trans are the same, so it may be the same trans housing with a few things changed internally for "feel" and such in the roadster vs. the sedan, or additional sensors in the E90, who knows.

This can get a little confusing, let me explain. Trying to do a 6spd swap on an E30 with an M50 swap. I already know that an Z4 transmission will bolt to an S52 which has the same bolt pattern as the M50, so if the n52 tranny will bolt up to the m54 motor than this should work....I think....
Does this make sence?

Transitive property of transmission fitment.

Can anybody get the length of their tranny, from bellhousing where it meets the engine to the output flange on the back of the tranny (the piece with three studs), farthest side of the flange?
