Did you have problems finding them on realoem.com (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DD63&mospid=47585&btnr=11_1471&hg=11&fg=50)?
It's easy to get lost on their site. I spent some time just looking around to try to get familiar with it.
Your 0² sensors are not under exhaust system. Instead they are listed under "engine - exhaust manifold - lambda probe fixings".
#1 in the diagram below.

There are two different sets of 0² sensors listed. I think the first number is the right one (up to 04/1998). I don't know what the second set's application is. Anyone know the answer?

You can try also the Bosch parts finder (http://www.boschautoparts.com/Resources/VehiclePartFinder/). Yours is listed as Bosch # 13884.
I also did a generic search for you and you could dig one for MUCH less than posted above (if it's Bosch). Here (http://www.google.com/products?q=Bosch+%23+13884&btnG=Search+Products).

Lambda probe: so I guess its just the part number ...

Part number: 11 78 1 437 943
Old part number: 11 78 1 427 884

This is from the http://bmwfans.info/part-11781437943/ site ...

Also, for the part, check: https://eactuning.com/ssf/part_number_search/11%2078%201%20427%20884

After reading lot of Jason's posts, I now got a feel for the drawing although I use a different website which has got good nav. :cool

Thanks guys! I will be ordering a new set ASAP for my 528i. I'm currently averaging between 15 and 18.5 mpg, and I'm hoping that new o2 sensors will help me out.

I just installed mine last night on my 540. I bought the sensors from Jared at EAC. OEM Bosch for $61.50 each!

The $61 price is for the post-2001 models, which I also ordered recently. This model is this: http://eactuning.com/parts/product_details/11781742050

The 97 model is still priced $107 odd. http://eactuning.com/parts/product_details/11781427884

I guess the main difference is the length (320mm & 990mm).

I will say, it was a bit harder to R&R them on my 01 than it was on my old 97. They were much more accessible on the older car. I had a tough time getting my car high enough to get under it. Once she was up in the air enough, it wasn't too tough.
