Hey all,

Just picked up my "new" E34. A 1990 M20 525i. This car has been in the family for the past 18 years and has recently been donated to me. My stepdad having bought a E39 540 three years ago ended up just using this car to haul the Seadoo in and out of the lake every year. I convinced him he had no need for this car anymore ;)

Granted, it is a little rough on the sides, but still runs strong. Needs alot of TLC. I'm hoping to make a nice Daily Driver out of it and get rid of the Solara come the springtime.

lol it's funny but I actually like cloth a lot more than leather. You stick to it better, it doesn't burn or freeze you seasonally, it's lighter. :dunno

Welcome, you'll have fun with the car. Look around in the forums, 4500RPM, or NicosX has an M5 steering box for sale.

Thank you.

NikosX and I have a 170k mile M5 steering box for $160 + shipping. Not sure how to ship to Canada though, would be using FedEx.

Thanks for the comments guys ;)

The interior is actually not so bad. Of course, the shift knob has seen some use, the shift boot is a little torn and the glove box door sags a little. Other than that, the interior is in great shape.

BTW, thanks for the offer on the M5 steering box. There are remanufactured steering boxes from Bav Auto Recycling for less than 100$. I think I will be looking into those, as this car doesn't need to handle like an M ;)

So I should be getting my hands dirty in the near future, so I'll keep you guys posted with pics and updates.

Thanks for looking!

Mileage is 288,000km's. Still pretty young. :) The M20 has seen better days, but runs strong, burns a pint of oil every 2500-3000k. The transmission was changed roughly 5000km's ago so that is literally brand new.

What is nice about this car is that the mecanics of it is relatively simple. There isn't much I can't do myself on this car.

I'm not the most mecanically inclined, but I've already converted a 2.2L Carburated Dodge Omni into a 2.5 Turbocharged 14 second piece of crap ;) I should be able to do something with the five !

2.5 turbocharged sub-14 second E34?

Nono!! A Dodge Omni was the car I converted in the past.... Converted from 2.2 Carburated to 2.5L Turbo... :buttrock

No, what I meant was put a turbo on the E34 and go faster than 14 seconds.

What is up with the tweeter up there? Are my eyes playing tricks on me or does it look all melty?

Congrats and welcome. You might want to try adjusting the steering box a little before replacing it. They were never razor sharp to begin with so you can expect a little bit of play even when new.

I had an 86 Dodge Omni GLHS turbo when I was a kid. Car was an absolute hoot to drive. Anyway, nice ride and good luck with it.

Wow, one of only 500 made ;)

I'll be reading into adjusting the steering box, mine is loose as crazy!! I'd say you can easily turn the steering 1.5 inches on either side without the car even moving.

I had no clue that these could be adjusted, thanks for the tip!

** BTW its frost/ice up there where the tweeter is, it isn't melted **

One free form and one ellipsoid.

I'd find another ellip.
