Hood latch mechanism

I just finished putting my radiator in the M3 and the latch for the hood hung up on my once. I thought I messed it up somehow but it appears just fine. I thought of how it would be a real pain if that latch were to fail and lock you out of the engine compartment.

Perhaps I should not hang my droplight on the springs but I wonder if there is any inspection or lube of the latch mechanism that is necessary.

I suppose a little lithium grease might help but just a tad.
