I have a source at a dealership that gets quite a few sets of mustang/ford injectors. If you would like to get these I can get a few sets from him. Email me if you are interested. I just picked up a set to put in my 540i. JKBenn02@yahoo.com

Could you please post a link for said ebay listings. I can't seem to find any in that price range.

Hell, Schnellere34 sells them for around that much shipped all the time. Good fast seller.

Is there any noticeable difference over a new set of stock injectors?

I got better gas milage but it's probably because I had mine rebuilt and flow matched. Some people say smoother idle and acceleration. It looks like Schneller deleted the chart showing how each injector flows differently. Ours basically piss gas out while the Mustang (Bosche Design III's) spray a fine mist providing better atomization. They're a lot cheaper as well. I got 6 used injectors and had them serviced for $150 all together. That's cheaper than buying one new one from BMW.

Wow. Stir Fry A Lot you are very handy when it comes to answering my questions tonight. Thanks!
Oh, and since I have your attention, what does the weight mean? Example: in your signature you say you have 22lb Design III's. What difference is there in having heavier or lighter injectors?

That's the flow rate in pounds per minute. You want to keep it close to stock otherwise you'll run rich. Too low and you'll run lean. A slight bump up doesn't hurt though, especially if you have a chip.

I was wondering the same thing. For a while I always see people talking about getting 19lb injectors for the m30 but others are saying you want 22lbs? Can anyone clear this up for me? Why was the 19 known as such a common replacement?

19's are what people recommend for the m60. 22's for the m30.
What characteristics have people noticed when switching to these on the m60? I only drove about 25 miles on them today and the car runs well with them. My butt dyno isn't accurate but it feels like it may have picked up a little power. Rolling on throttle the car doesn't feel quite as responsive as it used to... i.e. I feel like the first 1/2 inch of accelerator pedal travel doesn't really do much but after that it's fine. Not sure if that has anything to do with the injectors or if the throttle body linkage got bumped or something during installation.

The 19lb mustang injectors are rated at a minimum flow of 199.5 CC, the bmw m30 injectors is rated at 220 cc..... the bmw one is tested at 3 bars of pressure, around 44 psi, the mustang is tested at a lower pressure, 35 to 39, when the 19lb is flowed at the bmw pressure then its just about 220cc , so for a stock m30 the 19lb new design ford work better, better mileage, more power, smoother all the way around.
Edit, the m60 4.0 calls for a 240cc injector much closer to the 22lb injector not the m30http://www.bmwtis.com/repair/main/941en/images/941338.jpg

Give it a tank or two to let the computer reset... Mine felt a bit numb and the mileage went down considerably at first but now everything is well.

Yellows will work fine, the dme can compensate enough on your car.

yea... i figured that would be the case since quite a few m60 guys are running them... just would have been nice to have the ones best suited for my car but oh well. Thanks for that info.

great information, thanks. so you bought 19lb's for your 535i?
Would there be any bad effects from getting 22lb injectors for an m30? Would it be worth it to get 22lb's if your car is chipped?

Chipping wouldn't alter it enough to matter, I'd still run 19 with a chip, however
in Screwbie's case it says he's running a header and a catback system combined with the maf, he may be flowing enough more to need/possibly utilize the 22 lbs.
Where are you getting the 22 lb injectors, most of the mustang ones i see are either 19 or 24lbs..
Alot of this isn't really needed anyway under normal circumstances. Gasoline weighs approx. 6.1 lbs per gallon, A 22 lb injector will flow just under 4 gallons per hour times 6 injectors on a m30... 24 gallons per hour, do any of you think your car is modified enough to require that much fuel at wide open? To be exact the 22 lb in a 6 cylinder m30 would flow 21.63 gallons per hour , or 81.87 liters per hour...

I got them from a board member who had recommended them to me. I'm assuming the increased flow is so minute that there wouldn't be any discernable differences between the 19# though, correct?

Don't go by the trip computer or instant mileage readings, calculate your gas mileage based on gallons in and mileage gone.... The obc uses injector pulse width as part of its info to calculate gas mileage. With the 19's your pulse width may have increased making the obc think your mileage has gone down.... in reality you might be getting better... Check your gas mileage the old fashion way
nmp411
01-25-2009, 05:33 PM
That is with checking my mileage by hand. The OBC will say something like 20 and I will get 17.5. I still need to calibrate the obc for these new injectors.
