Help! Alarm fires when I open the door.

Hi guys, I'm new so please be gentle. I had the car (2000 528iT) washed today. It's very cold out (-10C). I got home and parked. An hour later I tried to get into the car. As soon as I unlocked it, the alarm went off and I couldn't start it. I've since tried it a few more times, same result. I'm assuming a short. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks for any suggestions.

This has happened to me. This could be due to a low battery or a faulty hood sensor/switch.
Just do a search in this forum on "alarm" , there is a plethora of topics!
