Hello all.
2006 330i E90 With a Sports Package.
OEM tire size: 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear.
My question: Can 40 profile tires be fitted all around?, In other words, I want to bump up the rear to 40, instead of 35 to have more pothole protection.
Also, what's the maximum tire width I could fit on OEM tires? (How much wider can I go from stock specs?)
Thank you all in advance.

You can go 225/40/18 all around, but that doesn't really get you that much pothole protection to be worth it. If you want more pothole protection, go to 17".
Also I am confused, you want pothole protection yet want to see the widest you can go, those 2 are contradictory.

remember that the side wall number is an aspect ratio (percentage) and not a set hight. So your rear side wall measure in mm is the same height front and rear (3.5" tall)
please use this calculator to verify this

Although your rears are a "35" and the fronts are a "40", it's 40 percent of 225 and 35 percent of 255. So it's the same tire sidewall height on the front and rear.

Thanks guys; I guess you learn something new every day.
Wold someone have a photo of an e90 with a sports package and 17 inch wheels? ...I don't want it looking like a 4x4

It won't. The larger wheels will have lower profile tires, and will be the same overall diameter.

Actually they are not 100% identical, the fronts have 0.84% more sidewall (0.75mm) :), that's why I said it is not significant
