View Full Version : Selling my staggered Style 5s

I've thought long and hard about this but I'm putting the wheels up for sale. :(

Title says it all, wheels originally came on a Euro 540i 6-speed, was an uncommon option in Europe.

The wheels could use refinishing on the lips. Nothing really bad, no peeling. The worst is a front wheel, the clearcoat is a bit yellow.

There is curbing on most of the wheels, especially the rears.

I think there are one or two small bends but that's it. They were free of vibration on my E34.

Since they are E34-fitment, no hub rings are required.

Offsets are 20 and 26.

$900 shipped in CONUS

There are so very many things I don't understand about this post. Who are you talking to. What's it in exchange for, why is it punctuated with a question mark...

Maybe some things are better left unanswered?

Coming up early afternoon tomorrow. If you have a chance check out the wiring stuff...I'm on call for work tonight right now.

What are you going to drive around on if you sell these?

I have my E38 16" Style 5s right now with winters. I'll wear the winters out and either buy new tires for those wheels (cheap option) or buy another set of 17s. If I'm smart I'll put tires on the 16s but nobody ever accused me of being smart with my car.

My apologies for not citing location, they are in Bloomington. I'll be in ATL in March but these won't last that long.

Thank you. I had a set of those same wheels, kick myself every day for selling them. I will do the same for selling these wheels but I'm facing a pay decrease in the summer so that's life.

nice deal. what's the reason for the sale?

I'm broke. Nic tallied up my mods and maintenance over the past 2.5 years and 40k miles. I've spent $11,500 in just mods and maintenance, not including the car, depreciation, or gas. Frightening.

Thanks man. I bought an E34 so I could put 17" Style 5s on.

The camera flash really pics up imperfections...they don't look too bad in person.

I had expressed an interest in your wheels. Unfortunatley my finances are such that I can't buy right now. Just wanted to wish you luck, even though I know you wont need it selling such a rare set of wheels.

Thanks

The E38s look better since they're spaced out. 15mm front 18mm rear

I'll probably do just that. They're light enough be keepers, and the sidewall does a nice job of filtering out bumps in these crappy Indiana roads.

I agree they look great on the car. Not as awesome as the staggered 5's but still fit the character of the car and they dont look too small

3 years 30k miles..
but I've got you beat in the cost of mods and maintenance. I also cant imagine youve spent as much as i did on the actual purchase of the car...

Right now the tires are 225/55 Blizzaks but if I get new tires I'll probably do UHP all-seasons or maybe summers. Tires are slightly cheaper for these 16s but nothing too crazy.

Glad to hear you have me beat. Dad bought me the car in September 2006 for $6800...high even at the time but it was pristine and records out the ass.

MacR and NikosX :rofl It's funny, my real mechanic is cheap at $65/hr.

I'm pretty anal about this thing. A lot of it was body work, some paid by ins., some by me. The little things add up fast.

Thanks man. I like them too now that I've stopped thinking of them as winter wheels. I was thinking about doing the opposite of what you did, retrofitting 17" Style 5 caps on these but I rather like these caps.

I still have the 9mm spring pad, may swap that for the 3mm to go a bit lower in front. It's low enough for me though, I already scrape the front bumper quite a bit.

yeah dont worry man I even have you beat on the initial cost of the car:(

just get proper summers because Ive had UHP allseasons and they are completely useless in the snow and maybe keep the blizzaks for next season and just take them off before the spring cus theyll melt off the rims.
maybe before next winter pick up some cheap 16's to put the blizzaks on

Yeah, there's a good chance I'll live in Atlanta (or snowy Chicago) so not sure what to do. 3 of the 4 snows will be spent after this season though.

I liked my UHP all seasons, had Falken 912s. These Blizzak LM-22s blow my mind on dry, cold pavement though.

There is a reason why they are a popular and sought-after wheel. I am not selling them because I am bored with them, that's for sure. I'm a college student about to graduate with an unknown financial future.

And, as NikosX said, mine are special. The number of PMs and general amount of interest these wheels have gotten in the past few days has been astounding.
