What would you guys suggest?
I am looking at getting a Daily Driver/ Track car, and it will be my first BMW.
I was looking at the E36, and I really liked the look and all.
Im just wondering how the aftermarket is, and what some pros/cons are for this model.
Also, is it possible to get one for 6k?

Thank you for the help

Welcome. Just to let you know there is search button on the upper right of the screen which will lead you to answers of many of your questions. The e36 is a great DD and so long as you take car of it you can put at least 300k on the car. With 6k you should be able to get a nice 325i/is (92-95) or a 328i/is(86-98) things to watch for is that the owner took care of the car particularly the cooling system. Check out the for sale section here as there are some really nice cars for sale and I would trust the people on this forum much more than some random guy off of craigslist.

welcome to the forum. like thedude60126 said, you can find a nice e36. I paid 7200 for mine. Try and find one with the least amount of owners and that has records of the cars maitnance. also get the car inspected by a few diffrent shops. it might cost a bit but it can save you tons of money down the road. also make sure the get a carfax. also will help you get more info on the cars.

Good luck with your search.

I think it is a good DD, but if you want a track car, unless you buy a M3 (much more than $6K) you will have to mod it plenty to get some decent HP. Look for 328's which have a slightly larger v6 if you are mainly interested in stock power...

take the 6k and put a down payment on a subaru sti otherwise like i said you'll be asking how to make your car faster in 3 days, and not only that new cars come with warranty just don't wreck it

I wish I could, but it wouldn't be wise of me financially at the moment :(

If you are serious about using it as a track car, then try to buy a car that has already been modified for this purpose. Have a mechanic verify that all systems are good.

Have a good idea of what kind of track car/class you want to compete. It may affect whether you want a obd1 325, a 328, or a m3.

e30's can also be great, but I think the e36 looks better. Lots of track cars and support. The Racers Market in Atlanta is a top notch e36 race oriented shop. Talk to them first. They will be a great asset pre-purchase and post-purchase.
