I have watched you enthusiasts from afar and am now considering purchasing one of my own. I am looking at a 1999 M3 Estoril Blue in Plano, TX.

I was wondering if any of you knew a good shop to take it to get a pre-purchase inspection. Does anybody know about how much they cost?

Anyway, thanks for your help.

The dealer charges $280 I think. Get a carfax first. If it comes clean, make sure there is excellent service records. If it has over 60K, make sure the shocks have been replaced, because the stock ones suck.

If you need more help, let me know.

Thanks Scho. Carfax is clean. It has 46k miles on it (and they have records of all work done), but I will keep the shocks in mind. Do you know of a good dealer close to Plano (I am from Tulsa, OK and not too familiar with the area)

Autoscope has a pretty good reputation for servie. Their parts are expensive. They wanted $3600 for GC coilovers and UUC sways! Haha!

I will 2nd Autoscope for a PPI. I had them do my 95 last fall. I believe it was $120, but that didn't include a compression test or leakdown (I think they quoted another $240!!! for those).
