I'm tired of putting money into my 1.9l and am looking for info on what is needed to swap to a 6cyl. im assuming engine w/ wiring and ecu, transmission, driveshaft, possible radiator and fan?. is there anything else?

+1 It's not worth the effort unless you had a ti, maybe. There isn't much of a price diff between a 318 and 325. Actually you will most likely wind up spending more doing a swap.

One my friend put in i318is engine of e39 540i that is the project, in your case just sell your 318 and buy 325 but if you don't have any other work and just siting and thing what to do ... yea do it :)

Well the main reasons im wanting to do the swap instead of just buying another car is.... My 318is is already paid for, the interior is very clean as is the exterior, ive got close to 3k in it after buying it, and im also an ASE certified tech. so the work itself isn't very complicated for me i have a pretty nice and large tool box.lol the block needs rebuilt very soon on the 1.9 due to mass oil leaks and being ran a little low on oil occasionally because of these leaks it has an occasional clanking in the block. the car has 176k on it and my luck if i did get rid of the 318 and get a 325 or w/e it would end up broke too so id rather just stick with what i have.....

Buy a 325, sell the four banger. You can buy a decent 325 for what you will spend to do the swap.

youre an ase certified tech..then what are you waiting for... start that swap foo!

youll save a lota cash by doing it urself and you can use your 318i transmission / clutch differenial no need to replace if ur on a budget.
