I have a Genuine E34 M5 Boot Garnish I have decided to take off as i dont want it on the car i prefer it without that im looking to sell, I rang Doncaster BMW (Melbourne) and was quoted $600.00 New and you must supply a M Series Vin to purchase,

The item is located in Northern Suburbs of Melbourne Australia in case your from overseas, Make an offer i will post a pic on photo bucket of the garnish, the condition is pretty good its the original so its faded a bit but its evenly faded and still un scratched etc from the day it came out of the factory.

send me a message if you want to make an offer

Cheers.

i'm going to guess you're referring to the "filler panel". the black piece that surrounds the number plate?

whilst the stealership may want 600 for it, i'm sorry to say you'll be lucky to get more than 60 for it. don't get your hopes up is all i'm saying

I'm guessing you mean the black plastic filler panel? That's like $60 over here from Abrahams Motorsport.

#1 Why must you supply an M series Vin to purchase?
#2 Why what about that part is specialty ///M5?
#3 Why would I pay 600 dollars for a 60 dollar piece of plastic?

If you can provide sufficient answers to each of these questions I'll buy it

Yeah, he put an m badge on his 535.

Well actually thats where your wrong mate, i brought the car as is, its a perfect replica of an m series so whoever brought it spent the money on making it look like one and not to go like one! In saying that tho he or she when they brought it have gone into detail on exterior parts etc, but running gear is a 535.

As for the price i don't know why they are so expensive and the VIN again i don't know its not an issue for me to purchase if i need one later on as i do have an 92 (Rear Ended though, Still runs well) M5 in the garage if i ever wanted one but as i said i pulled it off as i prefer not having it on,

Maybe you should ask BMW to justify why it is so expensive, I have taken it off and gotten a price as i thought i might get rid of it and thats whats been relayed to me.

Sorry man, next time I'll use the more anonymous pronoun "someone" when referring to car modifications.

Seriously, I was only trying to point out the answer to the M badge on your car. I don't care who put it on there or why, it's a nice looking car.

So far as the part goes, if you can get that much for them in Oz you should buy a bunch and have them sent over.

Is it just me, or does that "M-Tech" rear bumper look a little off?

No no, i wasnt having a go at you i was just saying, yeh thats the go in Oz so if i can get this for a decent price then F*$K im gunna buy up big overseas and bring them in :)

The rear bar is a bit weird it looks similar but its an aftermarket and its dropped someone hit the back of it and it dropped or actually the joins came loose (Cheap rip off crap) the original M5 bar got dented and taken off by the previous owner!

A Boot Garnish is just a "Posh" word for a Bit of plastic that goes between the rear tail lights and the number plate screws into it, so if you have a look at the pic of my car its the black plastic piece which the number plate is screwed into

First things first. I presume the "need" for an M5 VIN is because you need an M5 VIN to punch into the ETK for the p/n to show up otherwise a text box pops up saying "This part is not installed on the vehicle specified" Apparently the parts guy at Doncaster BMW doesn't have any sort of imagination.

Secondly, please ask if Doncaster BMW will sell what they are smoking to the rest of us.

The plastic cover goes on top of the metal trunk (boot) face if I read your question correctly.

really? I'm fairly positive that mines just metal. Though POD does run rampant in that car.
