hazard light button?

i never paid attention to the state of the hazard light button. Today it appeared to me that the light under it came on. It definitely is highlighted compared to a normal "off" position, or even when i turn on hazard lights there is a visible difference in brightness between off/on and running state when engine is on now.
I called my SA and she said it doesnt mean anything and there are no warnings on idrive.
I am now thinking that may its always been this way and I just never paid attention (just own the car for a month)
Can anyone confirm if the normal state with engine on for hazard light button is highlighted or should it be completely off??

It's on all the time when the engine is running.

It's dimmed a lil bit when twilight or headlights on mode is selected on.

I believe it says on the whole time in case you enter a tunnel and couldn't find the headlight selector easily and the lighted triangle shows "I'm here! press me!"
